Georgia requires work permits for foreign nationals from 1 March 2026
Foreign nationals who want to work in Georgia, including remotely or running a business, must have a work permit under rules changed on 1 March 2026. After approval, they must apply for the appropriate visa and/or a worker’s residence permit.

The work permit requirement covers foreign nationals working in Georgia, including those working remotely or running a business.
A work permit is issued for one year and is tied to a specific job and employer. Once it is approved, applicants must apply for the appropriate visa and/or a worker’s residence permit.
