Georgia introduces work permits for foreign nationals
From 1 March 2026, foreign nationals working in Georgia, including remote workers and people running a business, must have a work permit. After approval, they must apply for the appropriate visa and/or a worker’s residence permit.

Georgia changed its rules on who can work in the country on 1 March 2026. The work-permit requirement covers foreign nationals who want to work locally, work remotely or run a business in Georgia.
A work permit is issued for one year and is valid only for a specific job and a specific employer. Once it is approved, applicants must apply for the appropriate visa and/or a worker’s residence permit.
